I am totally transparent when it comes to my fees, and ensure that everything is agreed upfront with you so there are no surprises for either of us.
I operate on a ‘time and expenses’ basis, meaning you would pay an agreed amount for my time commitment and cover any expenses related to the work I do for you.
My Day Rate
My fee structure is very simple, and the starting point, based on one day (up to 10 continuous hours) of my time, is USD 2,000 per day. My day rate includes all time spent on your project, including travel time. If I were with you over a weekend but not working, then this time isn’t charges although any costs related to hotel accommodation would be.
To illustrate, if you would like me to do three days work for you in Singapore, working on a Friday, Monday and Tuesday, the total time commitment from me would be seven days (travel days x 2, workdays x 3 and weekend days x 2), thus on this basic model, my invoice to you would be 5 days x USD 2,000 per day = USD 10,000 (plus relevant taxes where applicable), with the non-working weekend days being non-chargeable.
However, if you would like me to do three days work for you in Singapore, working on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Monday, the total time commitment from me would be nine days (travel days x 2, workdays x 3, non-work weekdays x 2 and weekend days x 2), thus on this basic model, my invoice to you would be 7 days x USD 2,000 per day = USD 14,000 (plus relevant taxes where applicable). Note here that the non-working weekdays are chargeable (you have me there and I can’t work for others) whilst the non-working weekend days remain non-chargeable. Of course, as you would be paying for these non-working weekdays, then I would be happy to do other work for you during this time.
Note that for both examples above, if you were to ask me to also work the weekend days, these would then be charged at the prevailing rate of USD 2,000 per day.
Expenses
The expenses I incur, again are agreed in advance, and are charged at actual cost plus 10%. The 10% covers the cost of credit card and other charges plus the time needed to make the relevant arrangements. Of course, if you cover the expenses directly then there is no charge from me.
Again, to illustrate based on the above example, if you were to ask me to organize my own flights and hotel to and in Singapore, and assuming total costs at USD 5,000, my invoice to you would be USD 5,000 costs plus 10% = USD 5,500 (plus relevant taxes).
Rates for Longer Term Work
I offer lower rates for longer term work and would be happy to discuss this with you when the time is right. These rates are based on the nature of the work and the duration of the commission.
Payment of Invoices
Note that I do expect to be paid on time, and most clients honour this requirement. However, due to the behaviour of some clients in the past, should payment be late, I charge, as part of the agreement between us, a late payment fee which is calculated on a daily basis.
